I modified the intake on my penguin 350 so i could do partial water changes with out unpluging. I glued top part of intake to the adjuster valve so it would no longer suck air. I also glued the valve shut so it could'nt suck air. The bottom half is not glued and is not air tight.
Before i couldnt even change over 5 gal of water with filter on, but now i can do 30-40% water changes every week without unpluging filter. I just like the fact i'm still getting filtration while i'm adding water from the tap. I still have extra pieces that i got from marineland so if i can always set it up normally.
Will a older intake from a previous model fit this one? Just curious. I wonder if it would have same issue.
Here is a pic of were water level is at the point were it sucks air at bottom of valve.
Forgive me for my boring tank. My africans seem to be happy with it.

Good deal! I have most all my filter intakes rigged for 50% or greater WCswithout having to turn them off.
