Hey All,
I just scored a 150 gal from a friend! :D My wife is not to happy about it! I have to give up on of my other tanks, but since this one is so big I had to go for it. Anyways I'm trying to figure out what kind of filtration would be best. It's going to be a heavely planted tank. All my other tanks have canister filters would this be just as good for the bigger tank?
Once I figure this out I'll start working on lighting. First thing first though I better brace my floor!:D

Thanks,
Todd

Sounds like you could use a couple of canisters. Think about using a surface skimmer.

Slab foundations rock.

I would say perhaps, 2 canisters, and maybe an Emp400 in the middle for some added filtration. You'll probably need a large heater as well ( if you dont have one already ).

How about if I have the skimmer drain into a 15 gal under the tank and have the canister draw off of that. Would that work. Kind of like a w/d system?

If you can get the hose's correct, then I think it sounds like a great plan. Good luck, and dont get frustrated... :D ;)

Why do the wett-dry and a canister? What are your goals with that/

Hey Gipper,
I don't know just kicken ideas around, just trying to think of a good setup. Never had a tank this big before.:D

It's really almost easier getting the Canisters, because having a W/D won't add anymore filtration than your canisters, so it's basically pointless...
