:) thanks for all the replys, I was just wondering if there were many people on here that live in Oregon. I'm not "from" Oregon was actually born and raised in Calif, but have lived in this state for a number of years now. Yes the gas pumping thing is strange but after you have lived here for awhile you get used to it. I actually don't mind it as I always hated pumping my own gas lol

the whole reason you live is to pump gas into your car isn't it, and maybe drive it afterwords?

There are actually quite a few of us from Oregon. But I think most are the other forums like plantedtank and aquaticplantcenteral.
I live in the Beaverton area.

when you drive a car that runs on diesel, but doesnt LOOK like a car that would run on diesel, and the attendant ignores your request for diesel fuel, and puts a gasoline nozzle in your tank, yes. i like to be in charge of my own car, because people don't LISTEN.

I know in the 1990s it was illegal to pump your own gas in the state of NJ.
I dont mind pumping my own gas, especially if it saves me money.

It is still illegal to pump your own gas in good ol' NJ.
I'm from NY, and when I moved to VT, I was shocked that it is legal for you to set up the pump to pump automatically when no one is standing there to watch it. People just stick the nozzle in their car, turn it on and walk inside the store all the time. Seems dangerous to me, but I'm probably just paranoid.

I was born in Oregon (Marcola), moved to/finished growing up in Washington, spent a year in Ohio, went back to WA for a few years, spent the last 2 years back in Oregon (gotta love Astoria, got my Associate's as Clatsop Community), now I'm back in WA because my husband's in the Army and we're posted here. When it comes down to it, I love to travel and visit other states, but I'll never want to permenently reside outside of the Pacific Northwest. I love how in a 4 hour driving area we have semi-arid steppes, real mountains, windsurfing and camping opportunities all over the place, and the ocean.

Here in BC Canada, you first have to pay for your gas before you pump now. It get interesting when all you have is a credit card, and you want a full tank, but you do not know how much a full up will be.

I agree, it is so awesome, you forgot to mention skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, mountain climbing, hiking and more hiking, everything for the outdoor person, Oregon rocks!

down here, that's remedied by surrendering your credit card to the attendant before pumping, or using a credit card machine on the pump, which approves payment before pumping.

I'm from Oregon, I live near Silver Creek Falls State Park outside of Silverton. Oregon is a great place if you like the outdoors, this fall was actually pretty dry up until a week ago!

Wow Dan. I've heard of people with fish rooms, but you must have a fish house to fit that many tanks. That would be a sight to see.

I guess I do have a few... :) I actually have my 90 gallon running now with my TSN in it (he didn't get along with the 22" Pangasius I put in the 185), so that's one more!
The 300 Snapper tank and the 80 Reef tank are at my school and the 185 and 90 catfish tanks are in my garage. The only tanks inside my house are the 135 in the living room and the 65 Hex in our bedroom.
If you ever find yourself in the Silverton area send me a PM, I'd love to show off some tanks! :)

I don't go down that way a whole lot. But I would like to see it. I might be doing a trip down that way in January to visit Robert Hudson's shop in Salem. I am not sure if you know of him, but he has an online aquatic plant store aquabotanic.com. He is talking about doing an open house in January, and I would like to go. The trick is keeping my fish hobby low key so I don't drive my wife crazy.
I also looked you up in MonsterFish and read about your adventures with the snapping turtle. That is really neat that you can get your students involved and educated about invasive species and the environment.

I don't know Robert Hudson, but if he's having an open house I'd love to go see his stuff. I don't have any planted tanks right now, but I've been thinking of starting one. I hear you about the wife, mine gets sick of all the fish at times, too.
Snappy's saga has been a long one, but we are lucky that we've still got him after everything he's been through!
PM me if you know a date for January!
