I've put off shipping lately because the temperatures have been in the upper 80's-mid 90's, but I don't want to put it off any longer. I always ship with styrofoam boxes. I'm wondering about cold packs. Are they a good idea? What's the best way for shipping in these hot temperatures? Thanks gang!

What are you shipping? I've been shipping out fine and receiving fine from here in Atlanta and we've been in the mid 90s. I just make sure that the packages don't sit anywhere outside during the day.

What I have been doing is dropping the packages at the last pick up time (here is 5 pm) so they do their first leg of the journet in cooler temps. They have been arriving in typically 2 days. For fish, a faster method then priority or cool packs may be in order. Typically packages are kept inside overnight so they do not sit on hot trucks. So far so good.

I'm hoping to ship out some Multies (Neolamprologus multifasciatus) and shrimp in the coming weeks.

shrimp for the most parts been known to handle the higher temps. cold packs shouldnt hurt much. problem with cold packs is often they just dont stay cold that long.

I can tell you that plants and snails have arrived just fine -- and our temps were over 105 degrees those days.

I'm expecting some shrimp to arrive tomorrow... and I'm worried about those. Still, nothing is left outside here and they don't spend more than a few hours in a hot truck.

If you're shipping a cup of hot chocolate, I'd nix the ice pack idea... on the other hand, if it's a can of beer that you're sending, the ice pack is a must.

Thank you for the opinions. I'm still a little worrisome about shipping in these temps, but I think I'll give it a shot.

Umm. I'm not shipping hot chocolate or beer. LoL.
