Hi all- I've just recently gotten into this and now... well, i'm a bit obsessed! I spent a few weeks researching and picked up a 10g kit a few weeks back (obviously wanted bigger but my budget said no). Now I have about 5 zebra danios and a couple bamboo shrimp. The tank is defniitely still cycling, but levels seem good for now (ammonia is a little high, but nitrite/nitrate seem low. I was worried about Ph being too high (my scale only went to 7.6 and it was probably higher than that, but that too seemed to level off at about 7.5. I lost one danio the other day though, when I introduced the bamboo shrimp and did a 25% water change. Not sure why that happened... Guess thats a thread for another section though. That was the first (and hopefully last!) fish I've lost... It was sad :(.

Anyway, this site has been EXTREMELY helpful, my fish have benefited from all of your infinite wisdom!

if i am correct bamboo shrimp are filter feeders. filter feeders need a well established tank to thrive. or you can crush up flake foods into a powder and feed it to the bamboo shrimp.

After a few feedings, it looks as though the bamboo shrimp is getting some food (i've found his droppings around- they look different than the danios, kinda cube-shaped). You're right though, I should have waited for the tank to be more established... But, I saw him for $3, and in another store it was like 7$, so I got one.
