Cichlid Breeding Question.

Hi guys and gals i am thinking of finding me a Cichlid to breed and use some of the fry as feeder fish for my community tank witch holds a Oscar, 2x Jack Dempsey, Midas, Greeb Texas,Green Terror and a Chocolate Cichlid.

So my question is what Cichlid can a breed for this and can handle a 180Liter tank. I have a few Cichlids in mind i was thinking of choosing from i would like your comments what Cichlid would suit the best out these Cichlids.

The Cichlids i Have in mind.

Convict, Firemouth, Blue Acara, Blue Flash Cichlid, Golden Firemouth, Blue Eyed Cichlid ( Spilurus ) or Sajica Cichlid.

I use to have Melanochromis Johannii that spawned on a reualr basis and i feed the fry to Cichlids in the Community tank bur since then i sold the Johannii pair and now i am putting my 180L tank up again and want to put a American Cichlid in the tank to breed. :eek:

Convicts are by far the easiest to breed.

Agreed. Most people don't know what to do with all the fry. A simple 30 gallon with a pair should do the trick.

i agree with the convicts. mine breed like rats and i don't do anything special except for partial water changes. i don't even condition the water. sometimes i don't even "age" it. even the little fry don't care. i wish i knew somebody i could give some away too. i have about 25 grown out and another 25 a half inch long. now i just let them eat the babies since i have no more room. saves on fish food though! ;)

go with convicts firemouth will get to large for a 30 and arent easy to sex

Alright guys thanks for your comments and i think i will go with Convicts since they are easy and don´t cost all that much here in iceland and many in the hobby here in Reykjavik are giving them away and many good breedng pairs are easy to get and suit my needs.
