I have a "very" slight film on the top of my 45 gallon planted tank. :silly:

I run 2 fluval 305s - besides the film, the water is crystal.

I have experimented with a surface skimmer - works okay - kind of a pain.

Pointing the outputs up and "riffling" the top of the water removes the film; however, I am concerned about losing C02 - what should I do??

Do you inject CO2?

Yes - I run about 45 bubbles per minute with about 15ppm CO2

I also do water changes twice per week.

An easy fix to this problem is to put an airpump/bubbler on a timer at night when lights are off.
