I just got 6 of these little guys. They are in a pretty bare bones QT tank for a bit before they go into my planted 10 gallon with the rasboras, cherry shrimp and nerite snails.
They are quite active little fellas.

I just picked up 6 of these little beauties last Thurs. I had seen pictures, but never a live one. They're pretty cool. They're in my 10 with some ghost and long arm shrimp, a couple of ottos, and 1 female killifish. I 'm looking for more of them as we type !!
I've never seen one except photos. I understand they swim in open water more than other cories? Nice find!

They do swim in open water. When in open water, they tend to swim individually and not together. They also gather in a group and rest on the bottom. I am curious to see what they do when they get into their permanant home.
I ordered them from a small independent lfs. When I set up my 10 gallon QT tank, I found that it had a small leak. It took me a bit to get another QT tank set up so they were at the fish store for a few weeks. They look healthy and happy and I can't wait to see them in their display tank...but....I've read too many stories here of bringing in disease by not QTing....I'm learning from all of you! I'll be patient for a few weeks.

I use to have about 6-8 and some cory pygmaeus together. They stay small and are really cool. Good Luck!!

Any idea what their life span is? They are doing well in QT so far. I thought they might want to hide so I made a little cave with a cup but they don't bother with it. They don't seem very shy at all.

Not sure on life span but I have had some cories for over 6 years. My hastatus I had for about 3+ years before I had to move.

Cool buy! I don't think they've been kept in captivity long enough to really know what their lifespan is. I just got a breeding group of cory pygmaeus and a couple of their young. They are just the coolest little things! Swimmers also. They are more at ease in a more heavily planted tank but you must provide them some swimming room as well. Very similar in characteristics to hastatus. The pygmaeus is much prettier in person than the pictures you find on the internet. I imagine the same is true for the hastatus.
