what would be the best Africans for a 29g? I would like as many as passible. I know that they can be nasty, so what would work best for this size tank?
Thanks :)

You could get kribs, shellies, or maybe a few yellow labs. Not many lake malawi cichlids would work except the yellow labs. Shellies are very cool, and a lot of people keep kribs.

I agree. Anything smaller than a 55 (which is really insufficient, too, IMO) doesn't have enough room for africans. A small colony of Ps. demasoni may do OK in a 30, but they'd probably appreciate more room, too.

You can create an impressive lake Tanganyika tank with some Shellies, like Andy said.
There are many colorful species with a fascinating behavior among these cichlides.
I would stay away from cichlides from lake Malawi unless you start of with a few juveniles like 2 or 3 month old. In that case, be prepared to buy at least a 55 or preferably an even bigger tank within 6 months.

you could get a jewel cichlid. or try and get a pair of them like I have in my 20gallon
