So was looking carefully at my fish today and noticed this growth smack dab on the centre of my angel's eye. I think it must have developed within the past day or two. I thought it might be Ich but none of my other fish show any spots. It protrudes quite a bit and a pale milky translucent colour. Any ideas greatly appreciated. :help: For a idea of size my angels are around 3.5-4in tall from top fin to bottom.

nice fish - looks like a little nip/soft tissue injury from decor.

presuming no worries in your mind about aggression (tankmates - tanksize?) and no other symptoms (fish is active, eating, no change in behaviour) and tank is cycled, keep parameters pristine (ammonia, nitrite 0, nitrate below 20, less if you can do it, verify with good liquid drop test kit) and monitor for a few days should clear right up. Little bit of melafix is good for this sort of stuff to, but probably not necessary at this stage.

i had a cory get something like this, though less protruding. he wound up with popeye, though i dont know if your angel will develop this. i treated the popeye with maracyn plus and it cleared it right up. we watched the cory in quarantine for a couple of days first and noticed that it wasnt eating or moving very much either before we jumped in with the antibiotics. just watch your fish closely. if its whole eye begins to bulge, treat for popeye

Three other angels of similar size, a keyhole cichlid are the only possible culprits in my 72g tank. Im not counting the tetras, the zebra danios or my BN pleco.

It doesn't seem to protrude nearly as much anymore and its turned into a slightly cloudy bump. Behaviour seems completely normal so I guess its a mechanical wound. I have a tetra liquid drop kit and I have 0 ammonia and nitrite but there is no nitrate test.

Thanks for the advice :D

No prob :)

Given good health generally, that shouldn't develop into a popeye thing at all. From what you say I'd think it will resolve nicely very quickly.

Tank sounds nice - pics please ! http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=30

ps - get the nitrate test you need it.

tank mates include 3 other angels?

I would suspect this is where the aggression may lie.

Yeah the fellow angels are the most likely culprits, but up to now I have not seen any aggressive behaviour between eachother. I guess maybe they are getting to the size where they are getting territorial.

As for pics....uh I am undergoing a BGA bloom at the moment everything is pretty fugly. When I manage to pretty everything up Ill contribute to the photo section :D
