I have a ten gallon that is currently housing 6 albino cories would it be advisable to add a Betta or would the Betta be too aggressive?

Depends on the bettas personality. Are these albino corydoras aeneus? That seems like too much for only 10 gallons.

I am not for sure of the exact species. They are all small juvies that I plan to move to a bigger tank once they mature a little more. I am just wanting to get the betta out of the 1 gallon "prison" it is in now and though it would look nice with its coloration in the tank with the pink cories. Maybe I will give it a test run and keep an eye on the betta to see.

Try it and at least you have the 1 gallon as a backup. Of course I'm sure once the corys move the betta would be happy to reside in the 10 gallon ;)

Absolutely he would. I have another betta in a sparsely planted 10 and it is the happiest little fish ever.

I thought most albino corys are Corydoras paleatus.
I have done that - it really does depend on the betta. I have 3 male bettas. Only one is ok with other fish. The other 2 have their very own 2.5g planted/filtered/heated little abode. They won't even tolerate a snail. Bless their little hearts.

It's usually either though in my experience I have seen mostly the bronze corys as albinos, though it could be just because of the area.

most of what i have seen in albino is c. aenus (bronze cory). Regardless, should be fine.

i would imagine that a 10 gallon with plenty of hiding spots for the cories would be fine with a betta.... the betta isn't going to spend much time on the bottom of the tank or under wood caves. i've never seen a betta act aggressively towards bottom feeders, but as others said it may depend on the personality.

We had our cories with the betta in a 10gal with like 5 or so harle's. Never had any problems.

It looks like the Betta will get a new home tomorrow. I also thought that it may be easier to keep them together as the cories spend most of the time on the substrate and the betta, at least mine, is more of a top dweller.

I have a betta in a 10g with 3 panda cories. He does this all the time! :grinyes:
It all comes down to "depends on the betta". Try it at a time when you can keep a close eye on him for a few hours and see how it goes.

Mine sleeps in his pagoda with his frog buddy every night. It's pretty adorable.
