Hi all,

I bought an old tank, and it's covered in lime scale. Is there any fish-safe cleaner you'd recommend to get the stuff off? We used to used some pretty strong acids when I worked in the restaurant, but I don't want to introduce anything like that to the tank.

Thanks!

White vinegar! Rinse well afterwards.

As PF said white vinegar - let soak about 10 minutes and will come off with little effort. For extremely bad you can use muratic acid (swimming pool acid) to remove it also. I use the acid a lot and have no problems. I just rinse well when done.

This. Go buy a nylon scrubby pad and a bottle of White Vinegar. Get to work. =)

Suggestion: Put the vinegar into a spray bottle, spray it on, let it soak for 10 minutes, then scrub. Will save you a lot of elbow grease.

white vinegar is the best and you don't have to stress about getting it all washed out as if you still have some residue it will not harm you fish the only thing it will do is lower the ph a little.
That's the way the real long timers would lower the ph for angels when they first started spawning them back in the day
