Let them work things out. Angels usually are not very successful parents the first time around...but if they did it once, they will do it again.

One lays - the other tries to fertilize. It may take several attempts for a mating pair. If not fertilized the eggs will dry up and the parents eat them - usually trying again in a few weeks.

this is i think the 9th attempt with this pair. mabye 9th time is the charm cause usually they just end up eating them after 2 days :wall:

or it could be that they just aren't good angel parents.... some of them just aren't and may never be. If you wanted to raise them, you should have a cycled tank nearby for the eggs once they are laid. Since this time, it's on the intake tube and assuming you don't have another tube available, try placing some slate in the tank and place on a slight incline. Once they lay the eggs, remove out of the tank and into the cycle tank. In there, you should have an airstone to keep water moving over them and meth. blue to protect from fungus. The remain as eggs for a few days and then the angels emerge as wigglers. When the pass this stage into free-swimmers, you need to provide them with baby brins shrimp so a hatchery will also be needed.

when i said intank filter i meant the filter is in the tank not just the intank tube. this 1 is completely in in it(whisper intank filter) and i think they must just be bad parents. when they start hatchin and fallin off ill put them in an 8 gallon i have :)

not really sure what kind of filter that is ....
but just know that they will not hatch if the parents keep eating them...

are you sure you have a male and a female pair? sometimes females will lay eggs together...

Do the eggs turn white before the parents eat them?
Have you ever witnessed the fish lay the eggs? Next time look at the breeding tube on the one that lays the eggs and compare it to the other to see if its is a male or female.
Males have a pencil like organ verses the more rounded looking tube.
Slate is the best way to go for Angels

8 times with out success leads me to believe you have 2 females spawning together. You need to do as pop said look if they will let you see there tubes to be sure. another thing is if the eggs turn white then they are unfertilized.
one last thing you can do if you have a pair is to put a hearty fast swimming dither fish this will strengthen the pair bond as they will feel the need to protect their eggs.

its a male and female cause i have got to having 1 or 2 of the babies swimming before being eaten. i did watch them lay it once. male looked completely different than the female. i might be able to save some this time scooping them off th filter and putting them in an extra cycled tank i have going :)

this is the 30 with just angels?
how much traffic in the area..?
they tend to eat the eggs if they feel there is a threat.
as you have read in some cases it is best to remove the eggs if you want to raise the fry.
many of my angels will lay eggs and let them hatch..I usually have free swimmers living for 3-4 weeks..
in the case where I want to raise the fry i remove them using a turkey baster a few days after freeswimming.

its a 30 gallon with some neons and lemons but they keep to the other side of the tank. the angels dont really notice them. no real reason for them to eat the eggs. ill just scoop some out and put them in my extra cycled tank i always have running:)

Angels will look like they are eating their young they are merely protecting them and will spit them back out where they were hatched. I f you spook them while they are doing this they will eat them.
I would use a BS net and scope them out.
but sounds like you need to get BBS started soon
good luck

Hello,
congrats!!! I have 12 pairs of angels myself, so I understand. I have had one pair spawn 5 times, and every time they do good ( the female and male protects them and they both fan the eggs for the first day, and then the male will start to eat all the white eggs, and then he gets carried away, but I really do not have the space for the baby angels anyway. Here is the pair that does it. They are dark marble. The females is 4-5" , and the male is 6-7" ( he is huge). ( I can't find the pic of the female, and my camera is broke). ( the pic of the male is about 5 months ago.)Thanks,
courtney
