XP3 not working

This is the third time this has happened. This morning I woke up and went into my fish room to feed my fish. When I got to my 55 gallon I noticed my XP3 wasn't working. The return water was not comming back into my tank. This has happened to me before. About 2 weeks ago I had noticed the same thing. I unplug the filter and plug it back in and it starts back up like nothing was wrong. The first time I took the filter appart thinking there was a clog or something but nothing. Is this common for XP3 to just stop working?

Make sure it's packed correctly - sounds to me like something is occasionally getting sucked up into the impellor housing, stopping the impellor (as in Finding Nemo) - then when you kill power, chunk of whatever falls out...

This is definitely not common and not supposed to happen, of course. How often do you clean the filter? Are you still using the foam pads that come with it? Do you have any foam on the intake to keep large debris out? When you clean or turn off the filter, are you re-priming it or allowing it enough time to fill with water?

I run 2 XP3s and 2 XP2s and have never had that happen.

Not helpful I know. If you repack it and it happens again, I'd definitely suggest calling them.
