View Full Version : what to put in the front part of the tank?

hey guys,
my tank's front part is kinda empty, and i would like to add some short plants, but i have no idea.... my tank is a 10g and light is 18watt and have no CO2..

well a carpet plant like HC or dwarf hair grass.
To answer your question from the other thread RCS will be fine with the sand but the light color will not get them as bright red as say a black or other dark color substrate.

18w for HC wouldnt be enough really, plus the lack of co2 would just make it an algae magnet.. I would say the same with microswords
Go with what 247plants suggested hairgrass.
Others could be dward clover, micro E. Tenellus. or even moss
Try dwarf sag (http://www.aquahobby.com/garden/e_subulata.php). I've got it growing in my 1.4 wpg, no CO2 tank. And it's spreading. It's similar in appearance to the pygmy chain sword (http://www.aquahobby.com/garden/e_tenellus.php) but the sword needs bright light and the sag is OK with medium.

You can try dwarf crpyts.---Nevilli, willisii, and parva.

ehhh well u should co2 it would give you more option like i was going to suggest dwarf tear

My crypt. parva looks great, but I wouldn't suggest it as a grass. Mine's grown too high for that. I do suggest you get it though, as it is a very pretty plant. And it grows slowly, with or without CO2.
