My Clown Loaches have always been reclusive, only coming out at night and hiding when the light is on. I came home last night and saw that one of them has what looks like bites on his body. Ther are only some guppies and two cory cats with them, What should I do?:help::help::help:

Do you have pics? I need to see those 'bite' marks. They could only be grazed marks. None of your fish would be that damaging. Your tank on another note is very small for clown loaches to start with. A 75g is the minimum for a small group.

Yep, pics would be great. My clowns are out and about all the time.

Any rough or sharp decor he could get injured on?

This would be my guess or that it is squeezing into a hidey hole that really cannot accomate its body size anymore.

Thank you

I think that you are right. They do have a favorite hidehole and I just looked at it and the opening IS really too small. Noe the question is, how sdo I get the ornament out? As soon as I come up to the tank they dart in. I don't want to injure them more. I am definately getting a larger tank as soon as I can.

When I had to get two clowns out of their driftwood hidey hole, I took some of their aquarium water and put it into a bucket I use just for fish, those 5 gallon paint cans from home depot work very nicely. I removed the driftwood with them in it and shook them out into the bucket of water. They did come out, much to their surprise.

Well, I didn't know Loaches were sensitive to salt! I treated my tank with a teaspoon for every five gallons. My Loaches were out this morning and they both look great. Eating like piggys and just some marks where the sores were. I must have been really lucky! Thank you for your advice and as soon as I get a large bucket they are losing their hidey hole.

Thank you!
Jacki

Can you block off the entrance with a rock or something until you can remove it?
