AquaClear 50gal

I just purchased a new aquaclear 50 gallon filter for my 30 gal tank. However there are some many options to choose from regarding filter setup... i'm having trouble deciding what is best... so far I have it set up like this

Top: BioMax Pellets
Mid: Carbon
Bottom: Sponge

Is this ok or is there a better setup to choose from?

You are actually good.
Depending on whether you are running a planted setup or just a regular tank you might not need the carbon.
In a planted tank many ppl replace the carbon with filter floss

I tossed the carbon and added a second sponge. (Just my preference to not use it).

The default configuration that you have is just fine.

I agree that you are fine. Save the carbon for future use in case you need to remove meds.
