Converting Filter

Hello!

I need help with a small issue.

I've recently converted a Marine aquarium over to Freshwater and would like to use the same HOB filter, obviously with a new cartridge.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to scrub away all the buildup and such on the body of the filter itself so that it does not pump deposits and such from the old Marine tank? I'm concerned that if I use it on the Freshwater tank that it will introduce some sort of trace elements or buffers from the water it used to filter.

Take the motor off and soak everything in a white vinegar and water solution.

:iagree: if you can do just vinegar it will work faster. be sure to soak the impeller to.
