:grinyes:Haha, Trust me I would if I could, but as of right now I dont have ANY fish let alone ones I would give to a good home. I am sorry if this is an inconvenience, I just thought this would be something that the AC community would be interested in. Also it would get clutter out of the classified section. So that way It can be a little more organized with plants in one place. Tanks in another, fish in another. You get the idea.

Go Yankees! Whats wrong with you? The red sox are boring. Plus there liers. Manny got arrested in Seattle then tried to lie about his knee.

Manny's not a Red Sox. Manny is a 1 man team. There may be no "I" in team, but there is plenty of "me" in Manny. Wish we would ship him out to the bombers. Jeter would straighten him out ! And I'm a Sox fan !! Sorry BFK !!

Ok, is it just me or is this thread already confusing? The other "pay it forward" type of threads on other forums deal ONLY with the trading at hand and no idle chit chat taking space and distracting from the thread. Also, the others only deal with one trade at a time - which would be a LOT simpler.

The way it's done elsewhere: Person 1 offers the fish he/she is "giving" away for the cost of shipping, Person 2 is interested in that deal (no other deals are on the table at the time), so person 2 says "I would like that fish/those fish and here's what I'm offering". Shipping costs can either be charged by the person doing the trade, or if they don't have much to offer, they could throw in the shipping instead or more/better fish. Then Person 3 likes Person 2's deal and takes it and offers something in return.

Hope that will make things flow smoother on this thread. If it's going too slow, free (or reduced) shipping could be offered to speed things up, or another person can toss something into the current offer (separate shipping of course), but more fish would be added to the current offer and usually gets things moving faster. Constant bumping just makes the thread a zillion pages long with few offers and annoys folks who get email alerts each time something is posted to the thread. If it looks like it's going to go well, then the mods might want to make it a sticky if we don't fill it with useless chatter or bickering (the downfall and eventual shut down by the mods of most of the other forums attempts at this kind of thing).

Side note to MODS - IF there's a way to add the rating system that many other threads have for buying/selling, that would help keep folks honest so their feedback stays good. No need for comments IMHO, it can either be done or not...

I kind of have to disagree here. Those are the rules with the RAOK thread. However, with this, some people may have free fish to get rid of, but not want to take on someone else's unwanted fish or unwanted item. If the rules for this are the same as the rules for RAOK, why not just leave it to the RAOK thread?

Hmmm, interesting point. Now how will we be knowing what's up on the table from time to time with numerous offers on the table without going back thru several pages each time to see? Not trying to be difficult, just looking for the simplest way to have folks be able to see at a glance what's available?

Maybe this? Only posts would be the offers or the update to that offer saying it's taken. Anything else could be done with PM's. That might keep it clean and easy to use....

I am glad to see that my thread has been rapidly growing since I last checked back. I am now going to state concerns that some people have. THIS IS NOT A ROAK, how stupid would it be if someone Needed to get rid of fry due to overpopulation and the only way to do that would be to wait or to buy the giant catfish that the previous seller posted. No it is but a markeplace to give away fish. I know some people think just to put it in the main marketplace. But this makes things a little organized.

Yeah, I know they suck and to make matters worse they just traded their best player. You'd stay true to the Yankees even if they sucked wouldn't you?

I use Kordon breather bags which I get from their website. There are many other sources for regular bags including friends at a chain though. ;)

One can only guess that if you don't know where to get the bags, you've never shipped fish before. My best suggestion for now would be to take them to your LFS and have them bag them up for shipping - they only charge a tiny bit, and the buyer would likely be happy to pay for it so that they arrive alive. Then read everything you can on the web about how to successfully ship fish - it's a bit more complicated than you might think, and your little fishies very lives depend on you learning to do a good job of it. I hope this doesn't sound offensive - I'm just trying to help you learn and ship fish that arrive alive. I spent A LOT of time online reading everything I could about shipping them before I ever did the first one. An interesting thing to do when you decide to do your first shipment (after you've learned enough), is to ship a couple of fish to a friend or relative in another state, and make sure that they will be home to refuse the shipment. Then they'll come back to you and you'll be able to see first hand how they did. Did they survive at all, does the water reek of ammonia, are the fish sick and listless, etc... One SUPER tool is to get access to medical oxygen and use 100% oxygen. It will really give your fish a HUGE edge when shipping - especially if you're going to use Priority instead of Express mail. I hope this helps some - I didn't mean to write a book :lipssealedsmilie:
