Well, I need to find filteration for my 55 gallon tank. I found a deal on Eheims at a LFS (It's good to know the owner ;) ) and a 2215 is only 80 dollars, so I was thinking on getting that for my 55 gallon tank. But it only has 164 GPH while 2 emperors would do 800 GPH. I originally planned to do 2 400s so it would come out to 80 dollars, the same price as the Eheim.

So would an Eheim 2215 be better than 2 Emperor 400s?

Drs Foster and Smith have a Magnum 350 for an extra $10 + shipping or a Mag 250 for $50. Another good option would be the new C-220, or an XP2 depending on stock load.

You would need 2 2215 for a 55 though, Although not a bad option, there are cheaper options out there.

So should I get 2 Emperor 400s? I am on a very strict budget so please suggest other filters under 100 dollars that are good for a 55 gallon tank.

Well if thats the case, A Mag 350 or even better, two Mag 250s, You could have one with a regular filtering capacity, and the other with the micron cartridge.

If you have a local petsmart, print out this page, have them price match, get two, and your set.

If you want a single filter, such as the 350, Print this out, get them to price match, if they are unwilling, go ahead and order it online. Its the same exact one thats in the store.

I would would go with Eheim.Rated for 93g it can handle a 55g by itself.Larger media containers don`t require as much GPH turnover.

Sorry, but I strongly disagree. With a max rating of 160 gph, he would only be pushing a turnover rate of 3x per hour, thats at best with clean media. That is not enough, not by a long shot. I would say on any tank you need a minimum of 5x per hour. And I dread anyone sticking only one of those on a 90g tank. A canister filter may be good, but not that good.

I've learned to ignore "ratings" for a good reason. Because it just aint enough.
