In a few months, after my next big move, I plan on getting a 14G Biocube. I was just wondering what fish I could get that would work well together without completely overstocking. These are some of the fish I think are interesting, obviously I could not have all of them I just wanted to know which would be the best together and which people think are the 'best' fish for beginners.

Options:

- a clownfish (I'm thinking a false perc., don't they stay the smallest of the clowns?_
- a firefish (pretty attached to this idea)
-maybe a wrasse? i like the six lines, but I'm pretty sure they would bully the firefish and I've read that they eat ornamental shrimp, anyone know about the cryptic sixline wrasse and if they are better/more peaceful/more reef safe than normal sixlines?
- some sort of goby, I'm thinking maybe a green banded goby (that's what they call it at my LFS, I've seen them called redheaded gobies elsewhere) or possibly some sort of goby/pistol shrimp pair?

I also want some inverts in there,
I'm quite fond of 'boxing crabs' or 'pom-pom crabs' so I want some fish that won't munch on these little guys

I really want some sort of cleaner shrimp, if I were to get a skunk cleaner shrimp, would it be safe with the pistol shrimp if I had the goby/shrimp combo in there?

I appreciate any advice or any suggestions for other peaceful fish that I may not have thought of. I am still in the pre-pre-pre planning stages of this tank so I just wanted some advice from people who have done this before. :)

you will have more fish options if you go with the 29 instead of the 14. if you are set on the 14 you will need to stay with the smaller variety of fish which for long term health is going to be limited. clownfish, cardinals, goby's, blenny's, chromis, firefish and royal gramma's are good starter fish....the problem is most fish need a minimum of a 30 gal tank. the tank size is a balance between the adult size of the fish and how active of a swimmer they are. i would skip the wrasse idea all together. small tanks make great mini reefs or invert tanks with out fish.
