I have a 10 gallon tank with three male platys and one male guppy.

I am seeing some aggression with one of the platys. Should I get more to help diffuse this? How many? Dpes the varitey matter? The three I have are sunsets. Should I mix up the colors a bit?

I am not interested in getting any more male guppys, while they are pretty, I have not found them to be hardy.

They are probably cramped or need some females to chase after. But I wouldn't add anything more, you are pretty much stocked IMO.

I'm not liking the dynamics so something has to change.

It's fully cycled tank but newly planted so plants are immature. I have a sizeable ball of java moss free floating, a small piece of driftwood, a small anubias, narrow leaf java fern and two short grass like plant I can't recall the name of. (all plants obtained from Msjinkz)

I've got a platy hiding out under the java moss or driftwood and the aggressive one chasing the other one around. It's not constant but it's frequent enough that I think it's stressful for the fish. I have males because I don't want to deal with fry. I don't wish to keep fish in a bad arrangement. Should I reconsider my stocking all together?

I agree that you are stocked already. If you don't like the current dynamic, you may need to rethink the entire thing.

it is probably because there arent any females in the tank.

you could have the same setup with all females.

I'm with jm1212, no females. I dunno about stocked, depends on the filter. But I wouldn't add females, unless you can do something with all the babies.

The grassy plant is sagittaria subulata :) wish i could help with the stocking issue but I have never kept platy.

Thanks Jinkz! It's growing well and sending out runners with new plants. Poor things floated until today when I finally planted them!

I got the platy because I understood that they were easy first fish. I really like the orange coloration too.

I may have to rethink the whole tank.
