do pond snails eat live plants?

I just wanted to know.. my plants aren't doin so well. The look like they have some holes in them too. :help:
 
they will only eat dead or decaying plant matter. even when starved they wouldnt go for live and healthy plants. i would go with what jpappy789 said and look into your lighting and/or nutrient deficiencies.
 
Pond snails will only eat dead and decaying plant matter. If holes are being punched into leaves, the leaves are dying.
 
I agree with the previous posters, the only time I see damage to any of my plants is when they are on their way out. Healthy plants are typically not eaten.
 
I agree with the above as well. I've never had pond snails eat live plants.
 
ok thanks everyone! I've been trying to get a better light for a while now... looks like that could have been part of it! :rolleyes:
