Got a phone call today at work. Babies spotted swimming around and then moma sucks them in mouth when anybody goes near tank. The problem is my wife mother and kids saw them today, But since i just came home from work, their hiding.
Will the babies eat at all or will it be a few days.
I will get pics as soon as i can.

hey van yep they are probably really hungry buddy and at this point she is just a safe zone for the babies and honest man shes really hungry as well, the babies should be able to take really fine flake food grinded with your fingers and babie brine shrimp, good luck buddy let me know how the babies do and turn out..><}}}">

hey msjinkzd so you do the mystery snail thing aye, cool hey what do those purples look like also do you have any bee striped looking snails..

Here is one picture that i managed to get. I only saw about 6-7 fish. Their may be more, not sure. Don't fry feed off their egg sack or something at first? Would these fry be past that point? I tried to crush the flakes and put some were they were hiding, but don't know if they got any, or if moma got all or most.

yep they were on the yolk sac when they were being mouth brood by momma since their out and about means they are ready to feed themselves and find foods so you you really dont want to target feed to much you want them to explore and find foods and encourage them to hunt, so now your on the technical part like what size tank are they in, is there anyone else in the tank, what is your maint via water changes and filtration like, all of this takes place for a healthy fry rearing program, so to feed you need to really try live foods like the baby brine shrimps that you could hatch yourself or find someone local that is doing it also other live foods like tiny worms will again really really tiny worms will work, a mature sponge could act as host of good critters for them to snack on, crushed flakes, powder foods, hardboiled egg yolk scraped thru a screen will all be relished but high importance water changes water changes and water chages must be performed if not your fry will most def die also let momma fatten up a bit before you throw her back in because the male will be ready for her on round 2 BTW good photo buddy nice shot of momma and babies..><}}}">

Thanks for the reply pittbull. When i put food in will moma try to get it all first? Just worried about that situation.

yeah she will because she didnt eat the whole time she was carring her eggs and then young so anytime she sees food she will try to eat it all now as for mother hood goes she is done with them except when they feel threatened they will flee back to her mouth and that is up to her at some point she will try to leave them so thats why you need to move her back after a few good days of feedings..><}}}">

hey van i missed your last question on the other thread yes she is able to still pass water over gills while she is holding fry or eggs its like us trying to keep a bag full of marbles in our mouth and not wanting to drop any..><}}}">
