My tank is cycling and I want to tidy up on the lighting. Currently I am running a 400W MH with a 20K bulb. The tank is 24.5" deep and the light is 13" above the tank. I will hopefully be keeping SPS along with LPS in the tank. My concern is the temp. of the bulb. I like the colors produced with the 20K bulb but understand that it inhibits growth. Should I supplement with Actinic VHO's or T5's as well? If so, what wattage? I was thinking possibly dual 55 watt CF. Any help is appreciated.

since you are using a 20k bulb you don't need to run extra actinics imo. if you want to gain extra par and growth you can add t-5 bulbs or vho's but i would use something other than actinic bulbs.

T5s seem to be a new trend that lots of people are using. I'd probably go for that ..

First I must correct myself. I meant to ask should I supplement with "Non" Actinic VHO or T5's. As far as T5s, I would be going with 2 24" bulbs but it seems that 24watts are the norm. Will this be enough? Or should I switch my MH to a cooler temp. and then use the T5s with actinics.

i would swith to either a 10k or 14k mh and suppliment with actinics t5's or vho's
