I thinkI remember that they get their colors after about 1 year. My goldfish that was born in January is still a bronze color after about 6 months. What size is your pond?

Congrats on your babies! I'm really not sure about koi, I only have one. He didn't get involved with my goldfish's breeding frenzy this year. I was surprised to see my goldfish babies are white with orange and black spots so far, I am hoping they keep their colors. I had expected them to start out orange or brown.

Koi are born with their color. Sounds to me like you have baby goldfish. If you have added plants or other things to your pond from someone elses pond who had goldfish , it is likley that you got goldfish eggs along with your plants. I have both goldfish and koi and you can definatley tell the difference in the babys. koi are colored and goldies are mosly brown grey or black looking.rarely you get colored one from the start unless you have white strains .

My babies are almost all white, as are a few of my goldfish--my koi wasn't involved in the breeding as far as I could tell, it was always the male goldfish chasing one lone all-orange female goldfish around the pond. At any rate, my koi is orange and black.

It is interesting trying to figure out the parents of babies. But I suspect the OP's babies are truly koi, I have heard similar stories of "brown" babies. Please keep us updated!!
