ph is low all of a sudden :(

I was just doing my weekly testing and my ph in my oranda tank was 6.4.

i have never seen it this low. I did an immediate water change of about 45% and cleaned filter & media

what couldve caused this?

Have you measured your tap after letting it sit our for 24 hours? Tested gh/kh?

I would not have cleaned out the filter completely and I hope you used tank water.

my ph is normally about 7.0 - 7.2
no i have not added anything new. its 2 orandas & 1 pictus catfish in a 30 gal
i use a penguin biowheel filter with 2 filter medias and i clean the media in tank water of course

no i havent because ive used this same water for almost a year with perfect results but maybe my city put something new :silly:

my community tank has perfect readings
 
I measure mine every few months because they tend to "tinker" with things from time to time.
 
how do i test it? just with my aquarium testing?
 
Yep. Just let a cup of tap water sit out overnight and then test.
