Could you please state your reasons for using the aquarium salt? If you were treating for ich, table salt could have saved you for a fraction of the price of the aquarium salt.

i didn't feed them i thought alge was all they needed the reason i used aquarium salt 1 table spoon per gallon is because about half of my fish are live bearing fish and the clerk at the pet store told me to use it all my fish are doing o k i've had my aquarium fo about 8 months

Apple snails need to be target fed a calcium rich diet in order to maintain their health. This includes things like fresh veggies (zucchini, cucumber, green beans, etc). They can also be supplemented with wafers or fish foods, but they are not efficient scavengers or algae eaters.
