Can anyone (who won't mind or get impatient with me) take me through the EXACT steps of cycling? Like, how much ammonia do I need to add to my tank for it to start? Can you please take me through the exact and CORRECT steps?

OR

Can anyone tell me where I can buy Bio-Spira? and tell me exactly how it works?

Using Bio-Spira is simpler and faster than doing a fishless (or fishy) cycle. However, it is more expensive, particularly if you have to mail-order it as it must be kept refrigerated. For a 29g tank, you will need one ounce of Bio-Spira, which around here costs about $13.

I just used it on a 55g tank and only saw a barely-perceptable trace of ammonia for one days, then 0's for ammonia and nitrite since then (that's a good thing).

To find a Bio-Spira retailer, click [link=http://www.marineland.com/products/mllabs/ml_biospira.asp]here[/link]. On the left side of the page, you'll see a section titled "Find a Marineland Retailer in Your Area". Enter your zip code in the space provided and click "Go". Then call each of the stores listed until you find one that has it in stock. (Ignore the "Order Bio-Spira" link on that page. That's for wholesalers.)

If you can't find it close by, you can order it online. The only online store I know of that sells it is www.fishstoretn.com . , though there are probably others.

Why do I bother??

You have a huge tank full of all the bacteria you need in the 200 gallon Oscar tank.

It would be nuts to bother to go through a 30 day fishless cycle or to invest the $$ in BioSpira when you have eveything you need in that other tank.

But, I've already told you that.....

(off to re-read that list of axioms)

I bought some Bio-Spira yesterday... the tank is ready today. I'm going in a few minutes to buy the fish! I tested the water: there's no traces of ammonia or nitrite! I recommend Bio-Spira to anyone willing to buy it! Here it only costs $13 for a 1 oz.:D

By the Way- I bought it at my local fish store, and since we wanted to stop by In-N-Out on our way home, we bought a bag of ice at 7-11 and put the Bio-Spira in it... just a bit of advice for you people buying it that have a long way to go to get home from your LFS.

You can change threads, but you cannot hide. If you really want to enjoy successful fishkeeping, you really need to READ a bit more and learn a bit more. Good luck anyway. I don't think people are impatient with you...it is just you get advice ( which you certainly do not have to take ) but you don't seem to consider it. Anyway, most of us will keep trying, but try to learn a bit more by reading a book or some articles on fishkeeping and cycling. The forums can be invaluable, but you have to have some basic knowledge to make the answers worthwhile and helpful. And do look at the links that different forum members have provided for you.

yea... i did add some ammonia. for your information, Tempest :p :D

Agreed.
Doing things that people tell you to do is not learning- you need to know why you are doing things.
Can you even state in one sentence (subject/verb/predicate) why you need to cycle an aquarium? What it accomplishes?

You really need to understand what you are trying to do- unless your goal (which I suspect) is to see how many words you can wring out of the rest of us.
Otherwise hire an aquarium maintenance service.
