I swear whatever poop and leftover food that is in this tank is stuck in the christmas moss, I have 2 clumps of it in my tank and it has snails in it also and I don't want to hurt them but it breaks apart and causes more floating matter, it's a hassle what can I do to clear it up and stop making it attract so much stuff?

It's kind of the nature of a moss. My Java moss is covered in detritus. I could spend time picking bits out, but that would take ages. I just leave it as is.
You COULD string it out across one of those plastic fence things, but that would take ages too. You might as well just leave it.

Well..not exactly a bad choice. If it's just snails, then the moss is a good idea. It traps their food and they can live in it.

When changing water I gently swish and sqeeuze my moss a bit in the old water than put back in the tank, it doesnt get all the gunk off but it helps a bit.

When I got my java moss there was a bunch of little stuff in it... my snails seem to have done a very good job in getting almost all of it out. They love playing in that stuff... Maybe once the babies get larger they will do so too. Could you be putting in too much food and that is why it's getting stuff in it? Just don't feed them for a few days and they should take care of any extra that is in there. Good luck!

Moss is a dirt magnet. Best bet is to clean it every time you do a water change.
