I've finally decided that I want to get some platinums, blue calicos and some blacks. I'd rather buy several young and try to find a pair. So, how many should I get per variety?

6 young fish pretty much garantees one of each sex. It does not mean the two will like each other. The odds become 1 out of 64 of getting all the same sex.
Depends on how many I need of each variety... Lol.
That doesn't tell me how many angels I need. Is that per variety or the entire group of three varieties? Seems small to me... Besides, I want pure strains, so they all need a separate tank per variety. How many angels do I need per variety to get a breeding pair is what I need to know. Tank size comes after I know how many angels I need, not before.
I would prefer to get the least amount per variety as possible, while not killing my chances for a pair that will actually spawn.
