I've finally decided that I want to get some platinums, blue calicos and some blacks. I'd rather buy several young and try to find a pair. So, how many should I get per variety?

How big of a tank?

you'll need a 40-50 g tank to try and growout.. if these are any larger than dime sized .

Depends on how many I need of each variety... Lol.

That doesn't tell me how many angels I need. Is that per variety or the entire group of three varieties? Seems small to me... Besides, I want pure strains, so they all need a separate tank per variety. How many angels do I need per variety to get a breeding pair is what I need to know. Tank size comes after I know how many angels I need, not before.

I would prefer to get the least amount per variety as possible, while not killing my chances for a pair that will actually spawn.

Well six of each of the three you mention...18 at adult length...get a 6 ft 125 gal tank and have some 40 gal breeders for your pairs and 20 gal for fry grow out.
