I was finally able to upgrade my BC14! I found a great deal on a 29g Biocube on craigslist in June. I upgraded the lighting with a nanocustoms 144w kit and added a Tunze 9002 skimmer with some very slight mods to the hood. Everything has been working great and I was able to add everything from the 14g a few weeks ago!

35# LR (it's dense!)
15# sand
2 false perc clowns, 2 cleaner shrimp, 1 peppermint shrimp (It ate the aiptasia! woohoo!)
5 scarlet hermits,4 astrea snails, 2 nassa snails
Xenia
GSP
Leather coral
Mushrooms (trying for a mushroom garden in the whole front bottom of the tank)
Ricordeas
Frogspawn
Favia

Goals:
More mushrooms - esp blue!
Monti?
BTA?
Six-line wrasse or a blenny

Thanks so much for looking or any input!

Nice tank!

Most of your goals sound great, although I'd lean towards a blenny more than a sixline wrasse. A nice monti would be good, and who can say no to blue mushrooms? I would pass on a BTA, but that's me.

Good luck!

Looking fantastic!

I'd definately recommend a blenny over a sixline any day. I ended up taking my sixline back to the shop. He was overly aggressive to a lot of my other inhabitants including those bigger than him and he made my mandarin jump out of the tank.

Thanks for all of the compliments! I am starting to lean more towards a bi-color blenny over the 6 line. They are so cute! Still unsure about the BTA it would be for my clowns to host. I am hoping they start to take a liking to my frogspawn, right now they will swim next to it but not touch it. Time will tell and I am in no hurry to add anything to my tank! :-)

I picked up some new spotted mushrooms and tailspot blenny yesterday. I really like the blenny and was wondering can you have more than 1 blenny in a small tank? I still want to add another fish eventually just not sure what. I also kinda want a clam, just not sure I really have the right lighting for one.

Here are some updated pics! Including a pic of the daily inspection!

Very nice.. tank looks excellent. Good choice of corals and fish for that tank. You could probably still put in a goby but I wouldn't put in another blenny. Most blennys don't get along in small tanks. There are a ton of gobies to choose from so look for a nice one like that awesome blenny you scored. I had never heard or seen that one before.

Love the new mushrooms. I am trying to put together a large variety as well. I wish my red and green mushrooms would multiply like my purple, they are out of control!

I am sad. The coral store that I go to, is run by a really nice guy by himself out an industrial area. He always has screaming deals and I have gotten 90% of my coral from him. Well he has been a bit of flake lately sometimes not opening at all somedays and not posting anything on the door. It has never bothered me, since I always called before I make the trip there. Well this week I was ready to get some more stuff, so I called and he did not answer. No problem, he is probably closed.

Well---he just posted on his local forum board that he is closed until further notice!! No more cheap coral for awhile I guess... I am a coral addict with no where to get a cheap fix!

Well, I should have listened to everyone who said don't get a BTA (bubble tip anemone) ....I bought one last week. Today it looked melted and was spewing it's guts. It even smelled like death. The water was milky and there was a white slime covering everything in the tank. All the coral in the tank was shriveled and withdrawn. (I don't blame them!!) I have done 3 PWC's already and will do a couple more before I go to bed tonight.

I thought my tank was stable enough to have one. Lesson learned. I will stick with corals from now on!

Sucks about the nem. Nice tank though. I think your cat enjoys your tank as much as my cat enjoys mine. Has he drank any saltwater yet? I think you could keep a clam with the lights you have and proper placment.

Thanks for all the compliments. My cat really loves my aquarium she spends a lot of time on it or watching it. So far she has not tried drinking any saltwater. She seems to prefer drinking out of the betta tank... lol...

I have been thinking of getting a clam, but have heard that you need MH's for them. I am also a little leary right now about getting a new critter that I have never had after the whole anemone fiasco.

Oh...and I almost forgot it seems that the anemone ate 1 of my cleaner shrimp before it died. I am so bummed, I had that shrimp for over a year!

It has been a long time since I have been around!!! My tank crashed (still not quite sure what happened) and I have had to start over again. I moved what survived back into the old BC14. All the survivors seem to be doing well. They have been in there for about 4 weeks now.

The coral survivors include:
Toadstool Leather
Kenya Tree
2 ricordea
Favia (slowly making a comeback)
everything else died :-(

Other survivors (a little cramped at the moment)
2 False perc clowns
Royal Gramma
Tailspot Blenny
Cleaner Shrimp
Tuxedo urchin

So now I have to decide what I want to do.

I think the last aquarium crashed due to sheer lack of flow and possibly the lighting spectrum was off. The tank was taken over by cyano and hair algae. I have sold the old BC29. I didn't even want to look at it anymore. I was devastated (still am really). I am think of a getting a 40 gallon breeder and building it from scratch or possibly getting a Red Sea Max 34 gallon. What do you think?

Here is what it looks like now-

I am either going to have to find a bigger tank soon or learn how to frag a toadstool coral! Yes, that is the same toadstool in previous pics just much larger! Notice the sea urchin has picked up a xenia stalk to hide under!
