Just "borrowed" some powerheads from a friend that broke down his SW tank. They are Maxijet 900's, which I believe push 230 GPH. I've head that you should place them in pairs, which is better for the current. Is that too much flow in a 29 gallon tank? That's like a 15x turnover from powerheads alone.

15x turnover is perfect. You should shoot for 12x to 20x in order to remove any stagnant areas from your tank. Keeping your turnover high reduces such nasty things as cyanobacteria (aka slime algae), and keeps your water better oxygenated.

Agreed - 15x turnover is great!
