I have bursts of micro bubbles being expelled from my canister filters output. Is it air getting in somewhere thats causing this? The bubbles almost look like particles floating in the tank. Anyone ever have this issue before?

Yes, it's air. Most canisters will do this after you drain them for awhile. Usually does away in a day or two. It's harmless to your fish, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Shouldn't be a problem, it comes and goes on mine too. You may unplug your filter for a couple minutes and re-plug it in to get some of that air out.
Thanks for the quick responses. Yeah I unplugged it yesterday and it didnt work. Its a Fluval FX5, which shuts itself down every 24 hours and purges any air. So I dont know what else it could be. I checked all the connections to find all are air tight. Its been going on for three days. Do you think the purge valve is blocked or something?
I have a sump, but mine does the same thing after I turn it back on from being shut off for cleaning. It only lasts a short while though.
Well the air is coming from somewhere. Is your intake near an airstone/bubbler? If not, and it's fully submersed, then you have a leak somewhere. That is the only explanation.
Actually.....I did just add a curtain airstone to the back of the tank. Do you think thats what it could be? Its about 8 inches from the intake. Here is a picture:
