I was looking at ordering some nerites from planet inverts, but saw the "ph 7+" recommendation. I've heard once before the zebra nerites shells will melt in a low pH environment.

My co2 injected pH is 6.4. Soft water raised with GH booster and baking soda to KH=4 GH=6.

Do you think zebra nerites have a chance or will the shells melt? Do olive nerites have a better chance?

With a pH that low, I wouldn't recommend snails at all. Hard water with a high pH is necessary for strong shell growth. With your parameters, the snails wouldn't be able to build healthy shells, and the soft water would wear down their existing shell, causing erosion, pits and even holes. Unfortunately your tank isn't the ideal habitat for any snail.

I have to agree. I actually think that nerites seem to require more calcium that some of my other snails and get erosion faster.

I don't want that to be the answer, but it is what it is. Low pH and soft water can be a curse at times...but then my rams and discus look at me with a smile.
