I have heard so many different opinions on feeding. Some people say that I should feed twice a day, some say once a day, while some say once every two days. Some people say I should only feed 6 days a week. How often should I feed my 90 gallon reef to be?

in saltwater it really depends on what type of fish you have imo..personally I feed twice a day but honestly I crush the flakes up so much that its almost powder then I take a dime size and cut that in half then feed that half once in the morning and at night

I feed twice a day. I feed enough so all the fish get a few mouthfuls and enough to have food particles in the water column for around 5 mins so the corals get some food.

Some marine fish, like butterflyfish and angelfish, are constant grazers in the wild so they should be fed around a few times a day with maybe a starve day every now and then if they are eating well. Other fish like wrasses, lionfish (mostly the meat eaters) can have fewer larger meals. And then you get the algae eaters, like blennies, that eat algae in the tank most of the day and may only need one meal a day. Looking at how they feed in the wild is a good indication of how often to feed fish in the aquarium.

I have a mix of fish and have found twice a day works for them. You want to feed enough so the fish all get some food and aren't skinny, but not so much that the water quality is compromised or the fish are bursting at the seams :). Basically the fish should always be a bit hungry, which is natural, but not starving.

With corals its a similar sort of thing, the large polyp corals and anemones should be target fed every couple of days whilst the small polyp corals should get some food out of the water column everyday.
