You must find the source, investigate what caused it, attack the source and be careful next time. You could simply exterminate it but you still should find out what caused it so you won't have the same problem in the future.
Seriously? Bristlenose plecos rarely eat plants except swords and only then if they aren't being properly fed. While bristlenose aren't going to solve every algae problem going, there is absolutely no good reason for not utilizing their penchant for cleaning to your benefit. While I understand the latest trend to advise against bristlenose as the cure for eveything, they are great fish that can really benefit your efforts to keep a beautiful tank. Try one, you'll like it .
