I've noticed that every new tiger shrimp that I've introduced to my RCS/tiger shrimp tank immediately run to a shed exoskeleton. In the past I've had problems with female tigers dying and I'm wondering, if the cause of death is problematic molting/mineral deficiency, whether you guys supplement your shrimp tanks with anything other than cuttle bones.

I have birds so I have mineral blocks handy, could I add some of those too?

I do not supplement anything. What is your ph and water parameters? Are the tiger shrimp being shipped or purchased locally? How are you acclimating them?

When I have received new shrimp I have also noticed that the larger ones will typically molt immediately. I have also noticed that my larger shrimp tend to molt every time I do a water change. I believe it is brought on by the change in water conditions.

My husband bought 11 cherry shrimp and after the first night they molted then after the water change a couple of days ago they molted to.

Yes, its pretty normal to molt after acclimation and water changes and as part of normal growth.

if they are stressed they will molt

I don't think it is caused by stress, but their unique ability to to create a new exoskeleton that is more suitable to the current water conditions.
