No I’m not talking about the song by the Pussycat Dolls. I really want to know what you wanted to be when you grew / grow up.

I wanted to be an astronaut and an artist. Well, I never made it to NASA or even a space camp, but I do paint on occasion.

The funny thing is, in my senior year of high school we had to take “Aptitude Tests” to find out what we should do for a career. It turns out that, according to the test, I should be a……..........FISH FARMER!! :jaw-dropping:

At the time, I was appalled and thought the test was total B.S. But hey, look at me now! It’s 6 years later and with all the tanks in my house I practically own a fish farm and I’ve bred Guppies, Angels and Bettas. Perhaps the test wasn’t so “off” after all =)

ok when i was little i was always in my grandmas kitchen

i was going to be a pro football player but got jumped the night of my sisters wedding and got my jaw broken so that ended that was really a bummer for a bit i am 6 4" wieghed about thirty pound heavier then coudl do the 40 in 4.7 seconds not bad for a lineman

then i started to take classes to become an accountant then transfered to law and for some reason cause i was working at a clothing retailor tip top tailors at the time i ended up going into fashion merchandising at the international academy of merchandising an design in toronto ontario

got fed up with the plastic people in the fashion industry and just went back to the hospitality industry and started my own fresh never frozen seafood finedining place for my first restaurant here we are 11 years later with soup r man in the university of regina

and that is the story

When I was real little I just wanted to be a hero. Anyone who saves people. Then I wanted to choreograph fight scenes for movies.(would still love to do that)
I did actually spend 4 years as a lifeguard and had many opportunities to save people!!!

heres where i can offer you some assistance

just find a good restaurant an approach the chef / owner an express your desire to become a chef an you will be very surprised at what happens

i have worked for cord bleu chefs i have worked for very good cooks and everything inbetween and some of the best employees i have ever had did not have papers cause some of those who have papers have only one use for their papers that i can think of

passion an vision is more important than qualifications i ahve found
go for your dreams for that is where life is found

Zero casualties!! 14 saves. It was a public pools so it was just pulling kids off the bottom and getting them out of the water. So fast CPR was never needed. Scared me a couple of times though!!!

When I was a little girl (and didn't know any better) I wanted to be a boy. Then when I grew up (and knew better) I liked being a girl and wanted to be a nurse........and that's what I am.

When I was really little I wanted to be a vet, then in middle school I decided I wanted to work on cars(hondas) I'm now 19 and working at a honda dealership and it sucks. My latest idea as of Monday of this week is to follow my other passion, the ocean. So now I'm applying at a community college in hopes to get a degree in Marine Biology.

my aptitude tests said i should be either a naval officer or a cytotechnologist

I trained soldiers in urban warfare convoy live fire and counter ambush, changing the scenarios and adding extra effects messed with their heads and made them think. Among other things. I messed with swat teams too :)

Thats what I'm tempted to do too after university, except me and a friend want to open an aquarium/reptile store. Id run the fish side and he'd run the reptile/amphibian side :)
the only downfall is we're both taking a science degree and know nothing about starting a business, lol

I decided I'm not ready to grow up so I'm back in school....actually I never left. My dream job would be to be a master planner/architect. I love design and building. I knew I had a problem when I walked into home depot and got excited by sinks and door knobs etc. I'm in school now for urban planning so hopefully in a year my wish will start to come true.

growing up is over rated, I don't think I'll bother.

I got my desire to open up a small business out of my system by managing a few for other people - the work return/ rate on the ones that intererested me changed my mind about starting my own. It's always good to play with other people's money when you''re dabbling with those ideas.

Yeah, thats one of the things holding us back is the potential for failure. There arent a whole lot of enthusiasts (either aquarium or vivarium) around here.

Yeah, thats one of the things holding us back is the potential for failure. There arent a whole lot of enthusiasts (either aquarium or vivarium) around here.

i really must reply to this my first restaurant i opened called The Myrtle & Oak Cafe a the end of its run cost me a total loss of 270,000.00 but in business as in life failure is not a bad thing failure in learning from that is the bad thing as well that loss is called a capital loss and can be carried forward forever till i use it up as income tax deductions

i took the errors an mistakes i made that time around and used the lessons learned to do better this time around

i have alway said this there is nothing to fear but fear in and of itself as well in life if there is no chance of failure you are not taking enough risk

henry ford had this to say "THERE IS A REASON WHY I HAVE MADE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR SO SMALL AND THE FRONT WINDSHIELD SO BIG!"

there is this freedom in pursuing ones dreams an visions which can never be replaced by settling for the realm of safety i like the avatar on this site that says

bowls are for soup , get an aquarium

you never know you might just have the knack to create a niche for your business or as it is here in saskatchewan there is a dearth for the availablitiy of good aquaria so i will kill two birds with one stone i will supply my own hobby as well as supply the great desire for the nice fish

i will always advocate to those who dream to be in business dont let fear stop you but go with it get the advice and bring your dreams to light you might be surprised what things you will accomplish by doing so for is it not better to have at least taken the step of faith an failed or succeeded than to live ones entire life with the thoughts of what might have been IF ONLY

Even when a kid the only thing I wanted was to be a minister. When I was 12 I was introduced to computers and knew I would someday be working with them. After getting burned out I turned wrenches, welded, and any other job that would keep me outside using my hands. Went back to IT and became a consultant in network design and infrastructure. Got my papers as a Systems Engineer and worked for myself. After the Army I became a self-taught diesel mechanic and passed all the ASE tests to become a Master Mechanic. After the strokes I went to online self-paced schools to become a minister and now hold services in Nursing homes once a month and work with people that are going through severe medical problems. It doesn't pay much but the benefits can't be beat.

Man loads of you people seem to not want to grow up.

When I was young I wanted to be a lawyer. Unfortunately it didn't work out and now I am a cowboy-astronaut-international rock star-cave man-race car driver.

Eh hang on sorry other way around.

Yeah, thats one of the things holding us back is the potential for failure. There arent a whole lot of enthusiasts (either aquarium or vivarium) around here.

Sorry I wasn't talking about failure. I was talking about gaining some experience by working in the field before actuually making a huge investment. It's possible to carve out a niche in a small market but when you're up againts major retail chains it's really hard to make huge profits. So my experince was a lot of very hard work for a very modest return. I could live on it but I could live better doing other things. In a business you love you might be willing to accept that sacrifice - money isn't everything. I just managed to find something that I enjoy doing that puts more money on the table than I was going to make operating a small business. So for now I'm happy in my current endeavors - that's not to say I've grown up any.

age in my thoughts is but a frame of mind hence be the perpetual 12 year old in my mind old enough to know what is best an yet young enough to take all the risks in the world

for if there is no chance of failure you are not taking enough risk
