This morning I went to the local Petco, basically a pricing trip so I can budget a few things into the next paycheck...and I fell in love. Despite the fact my tank's only halfway cycled, despite the fact payday's tomorrow and I had to scrounge for change to buy him, despite the fact my husband's going to think I'm nuts...I couldn't leave him there. His name's Freddie (Queen was on the radio when I left the store to rush home for more change), and he's beautiful. And I promise, the pickle jar is only a temporary fix until I have a cycled tank for him and he was living in a much worse container than that
. I used some substrate and a rock from my cycling tank, and picked up some wisteria to keep it homey in the meantime, and I'm not too worried about temp at the moment since my apartment sticks around 80, and seems to stay close to that at night.
He has this gorgeous, almost lilac sheen that my camera doesn't pick up so well...and he likes to move a lot.
His temporary home...a .6 gallon pickle jar that's been my watering jar for plants the last few months.
Checking out the plants n' rock
He seems quite happy to be out of the plastic tub, was hungry right off the bat...I have high hopes for keeping him in my community tank someday
