Mafia 40 "Life behind bars" The Play

While the town’s members have been pre-occupied with ridding AC Ville of the Mafia scourge, even more devious plans have been in the works. While they weren’t focused on the day-to-day matters of the town a corrupt Councilman and his brother the Sheriff have seized control and in a daring midnight raid rounded up all those that they think would make waves. They’ve shuttled all the potential troublemakers to the AC Ville Penitentiary where the Warden has promised to “take care” of any subversives.

Game Mechanics

1) The first game day will be 48 hours, all others will then be 24. Everyone in the Prison camp has to vote to lynch someone. You vote by saying (in bold)… I vote to shank so and so.

New rule: You may only retract your vote once per “day” after it is placed. (2nd vote is locked in)

2) You must vote each day, but you cannot vote for no one, or yourself. If you fail to vote, you will die an untimely death and it will be embarrassing.

2) Whoever has the most votes gets eliminated. If you have two and everyone else has one vote… you get lynched.

3) A tie results in no shanking.

4) Everything stays in the game, no PMing people and setting up deals or alliances, or discussing issues in this game on other sites. The sole exception to this is the authorization by me for special role players to do so.

5) Please do not take anything personal said in this game. It is a game. If you are having alot of trouble with another player, PM me please.

6) Do not edit your posts!

7) Only one after death post consisting of only a “Smiley” or unintelligible word allowed.


Roles:

-Innocent: Your job is to try to shank all the Snitches.

-The Underground: Is composed of the Medic, the Spy, and One innocent that will be recruited on Night One. Before night one the Medic & Spy must email or PM me their top 3 choices. I will randomly choose which is selected.

Medic: You have the ability to protect someone each night, but cannot protect yourself.
Spy: You have the power to investigate once per night to find someone’s true identity. Snitches will appear innocent on night 1.

-Snitches: You were planted by the corrupt Warden to keep an eye out and to inform him each night of who should be beaten to death by the Guards. Before night, the snitches must email or PM me their top 2 choices for a beating. I will randomly choose which is selected. You have the power to investigate once per night to find someone’s true identity. Before night, the snitches must email or PM me their top 2 choices for investigation. Members of the Underground will appear innocent on night 1.

The Underground & the Snitches can communicate amongst themselves outside of the thread.

Each innocent (Except Underground Members) has ONE investigation to use. Snitches will appear innocent on night 1.


How to win the game:

If all the Snitches are killed, the innocents win.

If the Snitches outnumber the innocents, the Snitches win.

NEW RULE:

Solitary: Each night, one person that was a choice for investigation, hit, or selection (night one only), will be placed into solitary confinement for 12 hours (real-time) and will not be allowed to post during that period of time. The person confined will not be announced. Upon return to the population, the person placed into solitary cannot confirm that they were in fact in solitary. To do so, will result in a very embarrassing departure from the prison. The player placed into solitary will show as an Innocent for any investigations on the same night.

Probably chase the low quality posters. 9 times out of 10 the low quality posters are evil unless they are just brand new to the game. As for new players I'll give the usual grace period of a few days to get into the groove.

It's still early, and many of the population haven't even shown there heads, yet. Speaking of voting, however, all inmates need to remember that they may only change their vote once on any given day.

This may be both good and bad, but may reduce the occurrences of runaway trains, that can sometimes form early in a day.

Wow guys, you probably should have just let that slide and die. Judgemax walks the yard. She can't figure out exactly how she got railroaded and thrown in this crappy place. She finds herself staring often through the tangled electric fence to the world outside...She can almost smell "Chill's Dog" stand, Hear "Big Daddy's" Bike rumble by. These thoughts someday are enough to Hold her over. To bide her time, until Her attorney can figure out how to get her out.

Judge wanders back to the massive foreboding building ."ACVILLE PENN" chiseled in stone above every entry way. Its dark, and cold..its lonely. Even with so many familiar faces...Its a scary place to be.

Its meal time, and she is ravished, To many long hours sweating and toiling away in the laundry. She likes the work though, it keeps her busy..Judge has learned how to smuggle things in, and has quickly become the "go to" for all things in the free world. She does her largest business in smokes and magazines..although she still can't figure out why noodle gets Martha Stewart living smuggled in, Noodles, ..she chuckles to herself, ..shes crazy..She thinks shes the queen, and wonders as well, why she is not in the whack ward, rather then in GP.

As she proceeds in the chow line, she sees G, ..she still has the shiniest hair I have ever seen?..I wonder how she does it locked in this place..Judge thinks of herself, and her fizzy mass of curls, and how she would love to have a manicure, ..better yet, a full salon day....*Clink* The slop is thrown on her tray, she didn't even realize she was moving mindlessly up the line. She looks down to see potato surprise, ..and thinks, I wish my attorney would soon hurry.....

Six seems kind of high to me. Based on previous games, I would expect 4-5 snitches.

I'm inclined to think this is such a bad idea, it must be the desperate attempt of a Parolee, a Lifer might not even attempt a ploy on the newbs because it would bring bad attention on them. (especially since there really isn't any reason in my mind to single out this person in particular! Just cause he's posting a more than previous newbs? He's probably read people saying the low posters are usually up first on the chopping block - and maybe it's a new player getting into the game and enjoy it.)

That being said, it's so obvious and not good, nothing substantial, that it definitely warrants keeping my eye on you (and you'll agree and probably say 'go ahead people usually do!')

On one hand it does indicate looking towards progressing through the entertainment value of this already great thread, to the task at hand, but picking on that person of all the other scrumptious choices still smells fishy to me.

I could definitely be wrong, it's first night voting, but it looks perfectly set up for someone who was looking for an opportunity to jump on an innocent (who's sticking out a big because they're playing their usual aggressive method), because it COULD normally be reasonable.

I vote to lynch Lady G.

It's not much to go on, and I love her to death so you know it's not personal. It's ironically the same logic she used on me, on the first game, where being innocent at the time, I acted too innocently and it made me look guilty.

It seems that the interactions among these people come in a few definite flavors... :rofl:, :duh:, :bs:, :argue:, and :screwy:. Most of it seems pretty inane. Like the ramble of people honestly trying to make the best of being stuck here.

But there were snitches afoot, and until they were found, somebody was gonna get shanked, and everybody knew it. Most of the other inmates seem pretty calm, but that rb... he was looking for something. Maybe it was a red herring, maybe elvis and bigfoot would bring him one with the smokes. Anything is theoretically possible. He's aweful jumpy though to come out and call out a guy for being a snitch in the first day. That might mean he has something to hide. And somebody has to go, so I vote to shank rbishop.

Nothing personal, rb. I enjoyed our little banter but you were the only one to give me even a small reason not to trust you.

With that particular decision off his mind, he lays down on his cot (back firmly against the wall), and waits to see if he wakes up. :popcorn:

Still a couple of non-posters, but some intriguing comments starting to come out.

NeonJulie comes out and identifies two people on her radar, and even casts an early vote. Whether you agree or disagree with her posts, the point of interest is that she seems to offer a better case for Dirty Dawg being mafiaish than LadyG. In her opinion, Dirty Dawg has singled out an individual who doesn't deserve to be singled out, yet Dirty Dawg only gets her 'eye'.

On the other hand, LadyG gets a vote, because in Neon's 'world of opposites', LadyG has done something backwards. I'm not even sure what, but seems like a 'gut' reason for a vote.

The fact that she gives a more concrete reason for someone maybe looking mafiaish (Dirty Dawg) and a gut reason for LadyG, but then chooses to vote with her gut is kind of a disconnect for me. Anybody voting their 'gut' ends up on my radar.

I think this is a terrible idea - is it more like a Parolee to want to go after the newer players, or more the strategy of a Lifer? I'm inclined to think this is such a bad idea, it must be the desperate attempt of a Parolee, a Lifer might not even attempt a ploy on the newbs because it would bring bad attention on them. (especially since there really isn't any reason in my mind to single out this person in particular! Just cause he's posting a more than previous newbs? He's probably read people saying the low posters are usually up first on the chopping block - and maybe it's a new player getting into the game and enjoy it.)

That being said, it's so obvious and not good, nothing substantial, that it definitely warrants keeping my eye on you (and you'll agree and probably say 'go ahead people usually do!')

On one hand it does indicate looking towards progressing through the entertainment value of this already great thread, to the task at hand, but picking on that person of all the other scrumptious choices still smells fishy to me.

If Mafia games are Opposite world where the innocent people are more ready to lynch other innocents at the cost of finding the truth, and those who hold back lynching, are considered guilty; then in my opposite world, Lady G's statement that someone else is drawing attention to someone else for no reason, and that stands out to her personally, makes her highly suspicious to me, and unfortunately up first on my List. I could definitely be wrong, it's first night voting, but it looks perfectly set up for someone who was looking for an opportunity to jump on an innocent (who's sticking out a big because they're playing their usual aggressive method), because it COULD normally be reasonable.

I vote to lynch Lady G.

It's not much to go on, and I love her to death so you know it's not personal. It's ironically the same logic she used on me, on the first game, where being innocent at the time, I acted too innocently and it made me look guilty.


Another player to come to my attention of late is jbradt. Simply for the reason that he claims that rb is the only inmate he doesn't trust at this point.

I was hoping someone would ask these questions by now, would have helped me to push them towards the bottom of the suspect list.

1. There is no mention of how many snitches there are.Are you going to tell us HN or is it secret? I'm guessing with 19 players and everyone having an invest it might be pretty high maybe 6?

2. Can we announce who we are going to investigate? By doing this we can protect from multiple invests on one person.


I could see Chill and Dawg maybe being team mates, its funny they both said the same thing at the same exact time,like they were in a room together and read it. But I'd need to see more then that to place a shank vote.

Its no so much that you can't read, most inmates can't.

Its the defensive team mate post. The NJ finger point but then the LG vote instead. The weak OMGUS finger point my way.

I'm not willing to vote you yet. Just watching you. Could be Chill and NJ are a team and are using the team mate post as a way to make you look a part of them.If you get shanked first they look more innocent since you show innocent and the team theory is blown out the window.If they get shanked its more likely we will shank you since they showed as snitch.

Lets do a 3 way check. We all vote for our top 6 investigations in order before nightfall. 3 people will investigate each of those individuals with the exception of the bottom vote getter will be investigated by 2 people. This is because 2 people will be gone after nightfall with the shank & the beat down and we will have 17 players. 3 vote for top 5 (equals 15) and 2 vote for bottom vote getter (equals 2) 17 players. Now we will not know about 2 of the investigations because of the shank & beat down on night 2. We can also vote for someone to make the list of who votes for who. Most likely a newbie since I would assume they are less likely to be evil. This will also turn up useful for future if anyone is found out to be lying they were either a snitch or a PR who didn't get an investigation. Everyone can give their findings after night 2. I know it seems a little confusing but read and pick this apart and give suggestions and opinions.

This is because 2 people will be gone after nightfall with the shank & the beat down and we will have 17 players. 3 vote for top 5 (equals 15) and 2 vote for bottom vote getter (equals 2) 17 players. Now we will not know about 2 of the investigations because of the shank & beat down on night 2. We can also vote for someone to make the list of who votes for who. Most likely a newbie since I would assume they are less likely to be evil. This will also turn up useful for future if anyone is found out to be lying they were either a snitch or a PR who didn't get an investigation. Everyone can give their findings after night 2. I know it seems a little confusing but read and pick this apart and give suggestions and opinions.

After a long evening at work... release, jbradt is in an introspective mood. It seems that the interactions among these people come in a few definite flavors... :rofl:, :duh:, :bs:, :argue:, and :screwy:. Most of it seems pretty inane. Like the ramble of people honestly trying to make the best of being stuck here.

But there were snitches afoot, and until they were found, somebody was gonna get shanked, and everybody knew it. Most of the other inmates seem pretty calm, but that rb... he was looking for something. Maybe it was a red herring, maybe elvis and bigfoot would bring him one with the smokes. Anything is theoretically possible. He's aweful jumpy though to come out and call out a guy for being a snitch in the first day. That might mean he has something to hide. And somebody has to go, so I vote to shank rbishop.

Nothing personal, rb. I enjoyed our little banter but you were the only one to give me even a small reason not to trust you.

I too see benefits and drawbacks for both. Investigating early obviously gives us more chance to catch a snitch and to confirm it. However there is a better chance for the snitches to throw around names and cause confusion. Saving the investigations for later narrows the field but also leaves us with less people to do investigations. Definitely something to keep talking about.

At this point I really need to go back and read thoroughly through posts. I'll probably have to make my decision soon.

I went back and did some rereading and noticed this...



The first time I read it I didn't think much of it other than him accusing me of being Chill's teammate. This time I read point #2 and it sent up a few flags. How can one team have multiple invests on the same person? There is a communicating underground team and a communicating snitch team. If they are communicating how do they investigate the same person multiple times unless they want to?

Isn't the Underground innocent anyway? or is it possible for a member of the underground (the spy or maybe all of them) to be evil but non-communicating with the snitches. That is the only way it would be possible for the same team to do a multiple investigation on the same person without choosing to do so. Did Ice know this?

Maybe HN can shed some light here on the undergrounds innocence.

The reasons still stand, it's exactly as I said it - and wow the defensiveness poured forth a little bit. If one says that a mafia whatever-you-call-them-in-this-game would do their best to look lily white, while starting trains, I think we saw that.

It's more typical for them to jump on someone else for their 'aggressive vote' then for them to actually be the aggressor - hence Dirtydawg, he shouldn't have picked on the littler/new guys, a perfect opportunity for an actual Mafia person to look like they're innocent by accusing him. When I think more than that, getting on the case of a newer player for no reason is such a bad move, a real mafia person (unless they really don't want to last long in the game), would never go there, it's too risky. But someone else might easily jump on them for looking guilty. It's possible Lady G is innocent, like I said, it's only night 1, but I know my playing pattern, and I know that on the weekends, I have to be fast, short and sweet, because I may never get back to the game, so I don't have a lot of time to dither around and drink and sing songs, at least not unil the weekday rolls around.

It's not like I think any of you should also vote her out, this is a great game, with lots of interesting people, and each person's Night 1 introductions and style will be different - it'll be tricky as always to get a read. I'm not holding Lady G's and our first game together, but I feel that her strategy might be a repeat, only in the opposite, someone trying to look too innocent could be guilty. That's all. IT's night 1 folks. All I know is in the last game I played, before HN hoodwinked his own partner, I had been right almost every time about each person, so hopefully my "gut" will continue to work. Or vote me out, whatever, but I know my status and I know that if a lynch comes, you'll all be nowhere when it comes to finding the snitches. I'm not really concerned though, after all it is Night 1, and somebody's gotta go, and it's very rarely someone who's guilty.
