my pH is at 7.8 right now (alkaline) and I was wondering if this was too high? If so, i'm going to my LFS to buy something to lower the pH... unless anyone has a way of doing it naturally without spending any money???
BTW- my tank currently contains 1 Kissing Gourami and 1 Opaline Gourami

No need to mess with your pH....Just let it stay where it is at and stable....

I agree, don't tamper too much with your water's chemistry..It's better to just keep fish that are more suitable for your water. A pH of 7.8 is just fine for most gouramis; but if you absolutely must lower your pH, I would recommend filtering through peat. However, the tannins produced will turn your water a brownish, tea color.

alright... I researched that and my pH is perfectly fine for gouramis. Thanks anyway!

i've kept gouramis with great success from 6.8 to 7.8. they are highly adaptable as long as their conditions are stable.
