Well on my 55 i have some algae behind the silicon, its only behind the first couple mm and has some distance before its at the seem.

However my question is is this a sign of a failure soon? or is it normal for older tanks, its about 7years old.

The tank is oceanic so the glass is overly thick and the bonds between the two pieces are therefor thicker aswell

heres a picture for a better idea.
I had a rather large pleco at one point i believe he was the culprit.

meh, it might be a problem... I suggest you stock up on aquarium silicon, walmart sells them in the sealant isle, use the locktite(IDK if that's how it's spelled) but ignore that is says you shouldn't use it in aquariums larger than 30g
