Is the air pump necessary now?

In my 10g tank (lightly planted, if that matters), I have a penguin biowheel 100 on one side, and on the other side is a bubble wand. I was looking at the tank today, and noticed that the penguin creates much more surface agitation and current than my previous basic filter (so glad I'm rid of it!), and certainly more than the wand. Since I'm moving into a dorm soon and am glad to leave home anything non-essential... is the bubble wand/air pump really doing much here? Should I leave it in, Just In Case?

no the bubbles are not needed with a bio-wheel filter. my 55 and 65G tanks have 2 Bio-Wheel filters each. BUT, keep the bubble wand and pump incase the filter dies so you can aerate the water while you get another filter IMO>

Yay, thank you both for the fast responses! I'll hold onto the pump, but it's not coming with me (I'm only moving 40 minutes from home, I can dash home and get it if it's an emergency). Darn thing's taking up space that I could be planting in there. ;)
