How to view the pH tube?

When checking you pH reading, do you view the tube from the side or from the top of the tube?

Viewing from the top I read at 6.0 or below, viewing from the top I'm at about 6.5

Also, does the color have to match the same darkness of the color chart or just the same color tint? I never seem to find a color match when checking..

You should view from the side with the light behind you against the card. I go by the shade of color. It is not exact as the colors don't match up exactly but you can see the amount of say yellow and make a decent guess.

the side. through the top adds darkness from the bottom of the tube, your fingers, and whatever is below it.

There are kits that are viewed from the Top! My Marine Enterprises kit is viewed from the top. Which kit are you using?
