hey guys decided today to tackle a new project since i got a 7in yellow sotted salamander at work today....he was crawling across the lot and i snatched him up before one of the semi's run him over...

anyways heres what i have so far......

10g tank, river rock/pebble bottom, a few plants from feeder guppy tank, two large rocks for the mander to get out of the water and your run of the mill basic aquarium light...

the tank ad light i had in the garage so thats hy im using that......

what do i need to add to the tank to make and keep him healthy and happy?
what type of filter do i need? i seen a 10g tank filter that was a rock pile but not sure it it can be run in low water levels

and food....any one know anything about these guys? i read online that they eat snails, grubs, spiders, bug larva. anyone know of anything else that they eat?

thanks
dj

No experience with them at all, but he will likely need a bigger tank than a 10g(though I realize that is what you have handy atm). Bugs/worms are likely a good place to start(if you had him crawling around where you work, are there any non-chemically contaminated food critters as well?)

not sure about the food critters there.....im sure he came from a pond that is behind our shop, about 50yds behind our shop in the bushes.

yeah im gona try some mealys, waxies, and earth worms.....i bought some baby crickets and he pays no mind to them....they just crawl on the rocks and all over him while he is on the rocks....

i did read they eat snails, slugs and arthropods(what ever that is)

so i plucked a bunch of baby snails out my 55g(THANKS PETCO YOU #*$%)

but so far he either doesnt notice them or doesnt want them.....
