It would be the same thing as ordering from a place online such as LiveAquaria, Marine Depot, etc. The deal will depend on how much they are asking for the saltwater fish you want to buy. They might have high prices in which case you might as well buy from one of the online dealers. You will be fine buying one without quarentine, it will actually keep the fish slightly less stressed as one less tank to get dumped into, allowed to acclimate for a bit before being bagged again and going to your tank. I would definitely quarentine them at your house though if possible. Anyway hope this helps and good luck!

i would get them at cost since they dont sell them...and i wouldnt have to pay for shipping they would just order them when they order their normal stock eveyweek....

i wouldnt have a problem with ordering from online stores but i cant bring myself to pay the high shipping...ex...19.99 fish with 30-40 shipping.....

If thats the case, that is a pretty good deal. Like everyone has said, QT and acclimate the fish slowly.

Would also depend on where the fish are coming from as some suppliers qt the fish prior to them going out to the lfs anyway. Do they get their fish this way? Have they had any problems?

This seems awfully risky to me, not knowing what the animals will look like before you purchase them. I understand that it seems similar to buying sight unseen from an online retailer, but at least many online retailers have a live arrival guarantee... plus, if you are looking at Liveaquaria, I've heard of many good experiences ordering from them.

Any store around here can order SW animals, but the wholesaler that most stores use in this area does not have the quality of livestock that I would choose to purchase. I'm lucky enough to work (occasionally lol) at a shop that imports SW animals directly without going through the local wholesaler, and they arrive much healthier and have a much better survival rate.

Good luck with whatever you choose, but I'd stick with online retailers personally. :)
