I had a well established Tuxedo Guppy in my tank and has lived in there peacefully as the only guppy for over 3 months. I bought a smaller female guppy about 2/3 of his size and he was all over here like tetras on brine shrimp.

But after only three days he has now started acting different. He only stays near the top and his tail looks as though it has been bitten. I feel he may have been attacked and is now scared to join the community. I am going to buy an isolation tank to gtry and get him back on track but does anyone have any ideas.

The female guppy is still with the community. And the male tuxedo guppy is floating vertically but can still swim fine as I have seen him.

it might not because of the new guppies.
do a water test, it might be your water, i have the same problem
they swim and eat looks very happy, than one day one don't feel moving then the other the, check the water my god the nitrite was so high, and i can't believe myself, even I change 20 - 25% of water per week. so i dump all the water out as must as possible and replace it from a 100 gals which i also test is good water. but a test kit if you don't have it, it helps !

Yes, Guppies like hard water and good water quality. they are tough fish but still they need good water. So start doing some water changes and keep an eye on them.
