If anyone's been to a public aquarium, please share!
I've been to the Aquarium of the Pacific (in Southern California) and the Monterey Bay Aquarium (in Northern California) and I have to say, the Monterey Bay is definitely the best. Afterall, who can keep a saltwater tank (should it be called a tank?? Its got more space cubed than my house!) with ocean sunfish and a school of yellowfin tuna?? Plus its got lotsa reef tanks and jellyfish (how do you even keep those things alive??).
Public aquariums are always awesome...they really make me wish I had tanks that big! But just feeding one of those tanks will eat me out of house and home...:headshake2:

I've been to several public aquariums. Most recently has been the Sydney Aquarium in Australia which was very nice. One of their planted tank displays had some type of tetra in it and they were spawning the whole time we were there. I wish I could have spent more time in there but I was with a big group and on a tour. Before that was the Melbourne aquarium which was nice but not nearly as nice as Sydney.
Back in the States, I've been to the Waikiki aquarium which, for a small aquarium was very nice. It was a pleasent surprise and they had a pretty nice planted tank display. I've been to the Camden Aquarium in NJ which I enjoyed. It wasn't as big as I had hoped for it to be. And, the National Aquarium in Baltimore, I love the spiral staircase in the middle of the building circling the tank.
But its been awhile since I've been there so things may have changed.
I really want to go to the aquarium in Georgia and there is one I think is out in CA that has the giant kelp forest I really want to see too.

I visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium the middle of June this summer. I posted some pictures of it in the Gallery section. Pretty sure it's just a search away. I've also been to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA last year or so. The MBA is much more impressive though.

Thats nice to hear. Especially because so many aquariums focus on saltwater and freshwater displays, especially planted displays can really take back seat.

:iagree: 100%
If you ever get the chance and find yourself in Orlando, I strongly recommend that any fish-heads spend a day at Discovery Cove. It's not exactly an aquarium, but they have a HUGE reef that you can swim in, touch pool with rays, and dolphin interaction. They also have a very nice aviary.

I've been to the freshwater aquarium in Duluth Minnesota. Pretty fun, though parts are starting to look like they've seen better days. Just got back from South Africa, where I visited the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town. It was AWESOME!
