So i just got a pair of GBR on Sat. and they just spawned this afternoon. they are barely and inch so i am guessing they are very young also. i am a little surprised they are already breeding. i really don't have a lot of time to deal with this right now so i am just going to let them stay in the community tank they are in right now and hope for the best other then getting some fry food we will just see how this goes.
any advice from one one who has dealt with this before ?

man that's awesome, what type of water para do you have? The fry should be fine depending on what else you have in the tank and the size of the tank.

water params:
ph:6.8
nitrite:0
ammo:0
Nitrate:20
temp: 83

in teh tank i have
5 zebra danios
5 perstellia tetras
2 corys
1 clown pleco
2 GBR

29 gal tank that is moderate to heavily planted

The cories, pleco, ad danios are oppertunistic

Nice. At the very least you know they are happy! I bet the zebras munch out on the little babies, though :( Might be worth it to find the zebras a new home? Everything else you have is South American!

i have been thing about taking the danios and Pristella Tetras back and just going with one larger school of neon tetras. How would that be? how many neons should i get?

My advice is to save your money and don't buy the fry food. The other fish in the tank will eat the eggs if the parents don't get to them first. Your best bet with rams is to pull the eggs. Put them in a large glass jar. You'd need a large one for that piece of driftwood by the looks of it. I use a 1/2 gallon jar initially for my angelfish spawns. I actually have a spawn in there right now. Dose 1/2 capful of hydrogen peroxide per 1/2 gallon every 12 hours until the eggs hatch to prevent fungusing of the eggs. You won't need to feed the rams until their 5th day after hatching when they should be free-swimming. It will take about 2-2.5 days for the eggs to hatch depending on the temp. HTH

Congrats on the fry!

bs6749, what do you do after?
is there anything in the Jar, what is the set up?

I use half gallon jar. Put the eggs in the jar which are usually on a leaf or slate. Fill the jar with water that is the same temp as the parent tank and add hydrogen peroxide. Add a thermometer to the jar. Add a 50W hang on style heater to the jar. Add an airstone to the jar so the top of the water slightly rolls and make sure it isn't too close to the eggs. I find that placing it above the eggs is better than below. It's also better if the slate/leaf is placed vertically rather than horizontally. All you do then is dose H2O2 every 12 hours and check the temp until they hatch.
